Description:

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument showcases a rim of red cinders and lava flows that resulted from a volcano eruption in 1065 A.D. The visitor center contains exhibits on volcanoes and earthquakes and a working seismograph. A one-mile loop trail conducts visitors through the Bonito Lava Flow at the base of the crater. Sunset Crater is located 14 miles northwest of Flagstaff.

Open daily, Nov - Apr: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; May - Oct: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
